I went to one of Logan Heights Community Development workshops for street vending today (1/19/2023) regarding the new and ever-changing ordinances that started June 22, 2022. Some background information: Logan Heights CDC is a non-profit and small business resource connection for the Greater Logan Heights neighborhoods which include: Grant Hill, Logan, Memorial, Sherman, and Stockton.
Here are some of the key points I gathered from their presentation:
According to the new ordinance, you must have a permit to conduct business, which includes a Business Tax Certificate and a Street Vendor ID. If you are a food vendor you must also have a permit with the County of Environmental Health and a food handlers card.
There are limits to the areas of San Diego where you can set up to be a vendor.
There are hours and distances that you need to adhere and where you can vend.
This presentation also answered the following questions:
Do I need a health permit?
Does my cart need to be approved? **Tip: Do not buy cart until plans are submitted.
Does it need to be inspected? ** Use template provided on website to save money
Where can I store my food and cart?
Can I use my home kitchen as a commissary?
Can I store my cart at home?
Depending on which items and food (non-perishables and perishables) you are going to sell, you will need the appropriate permits.
Another thing to consider? The associated risks with food-related items that are outside of your control. General Liability and Products Liability insurance are highly needed. Many things can happen that can potentially ruin the food we prepared and hurt a customer. We could be liable for the following risks: contracting a food-borne illness, an allergic reaction, or even having to go to the doctor and/or having legal action brought up because of it. General Liability insurance protects us against these risks and protects our livelihood.

Logan Heights Community Center hoy (1/19/2023) dio un taller informativo acerca de cómo empezar tu negocio como vendedor ambulante y como el nuevo decreto del 22 de junio del 2022 afecto a los que son vendedores ambulantes. Logan Heights CDC es una organización sin fines de lucro que sirve para ayudar a las comunidades de Logan Heights y Grant Hill, Memorial, Sherman, y Stockton. Una de sus muchas ayudas- servir como fuente de información y ayuda para negocios pequeños.
Estos son unos puntos que aprendí:

¿Dónde debo guardar la comida que se va a vender y el carrito que utilizare?
¿Puedo usar mi cocina de casa para cocinar/vender/ guardar comida?
¿Puedo guardar mi carrito en casa?
Hay diferentes permisos dependiendo de que tipo de cosas se van a vender, ya sea si es un producto perecedero o no.
Otra cosa que se debe de considerar son los riesgos relacionados con alimentos y como obtener un buen seguro de Responsabilidad Civil General o General Liability como se le conoce en inglés. Este seguro protegerá su negocio y a usted en caso de que uno de sus clientes se lastime, enferme, tenga una reacción alérgica o hasta llegue al hospital debido a su producto. Aunque nosotros hacemos todo lo que es posible para realizar un producto perfecto, siempre hay sucesos que quedan fuera de nuestras manos. Este seguro lo protege a usted y a su negocio en caso de que llagara a ocurrir.
